Vestry Laight Concludes Investigation Into Mercy Corps' Response to Sexual Abuse Claim Against Its Co-Founder

In October 2019, Mercy Corps and its Board asked Vestry Laight to conduct an independent investigation into what steps were taken in response to reports of sexual abuse by its late co-founder after the abuse was brought to Mercy Corps’ attention by his daughter in 2018. On February 5, 2020, Mercy Corps released Vestry Laight’s findings and recommendations and committed to undertaking a series of reforms to strengthen governance and oversight of ethics cases. The findings and conclusions were reported on in multiple news outlets including US News & World Report and ABC News.
